Magento and Pronto, with a proper handover

Integrating a Magento store with the Pronto ERP, with documented workflows, Cloudways hosting and Bitbucket Pipelines, and a handover that lets the platform run without its builders.

Platform:
Integrations:
  • Client Australian manufacturer and distributor
  • Platform Magento 2, Pronto ERP, Cloudways hosting, Bitbucket Pipelines
  • My role Technical lead
  • Focus ERP integration, DevOps, handover

The context

The business runs on Pronto, an Australian ERP used widely by distributors and manufacturers. The online store had to stay in step with it: products, stock, pricing and orders.

What I did

  • Integration with Pronto for the data the storefront depends on.
  • A documented development and Git workflow and DevOps reference for the project.
  • Hosting and deployments on Cloudways with Bitbucket Pipelines, including fixing failed pipelines at their cause.
  • Handover documentation, so the platform could be supported without relying on any one person.

The lesson

An integration is only as good as the documentation and process around it. Clear workflows and a proper handover are what let a platform keep running smoothly after the build team moves on.
