The project
A fashion label moved its online store to BigCommerce. A hosted platform covers most needs out of the box, but this business had a few processes that didn’t fit: gift cards, price list imports and refund reporting. They also wanted automated marketing to bring customers back.
What I built
- The migration to BigCommerce.
- A custom BigCommerce app built with Lumen for gift card management, price list imports and refund reporting, running alongside the store through BigCommerce’s APIs.
- A Dotdigital API integration for automated re-engagement campaigns and coupon generation.
Key decision
On a hosted platform you can’t, and shouldn’t, change the core. Building the missing features as a separate app that talks to BigCommerce through its API keeps the store upgradeable and the custom logic in one place the team controls.
